Shadow Farm is a small enterprise devoted to diversity for the purpose of sustaining ourselves in good times and bad. We divide our time equally between garden, sewing room and printshop.
On the land Shadow Farm raises its own garden, including black raspberries and culinary herbs as well as produce, and will be selling extra as it becomes available, onsite and in season. We do not sell online from our garden. In the near future Shadow Farm will begin raising a few chickens for meat and eggs. We also grow scented geraniums and lavender for beauty, aroma and fun.
Sew What! sells handmade practical totes, pouches and aprons designed for the home and garden.
Shadow-Ink is set up to publish quality Newsletters, Pamphlets and Booklets geared to speedy printing and dissemination.
Shadow Farm accepts money orders or cash for printing and sewing projects, and can arrange for cash terms or barter, but does not handle credit cards. Email for more information.
When determining shipping and handling costs, please note that Shadow Farm charges only the actual cost we pay for packaging and mailing; no extra charges are added.

Because sewing is a practical endeavor as well as an aesthetic one, Sew What! prefers to confine its efforts to making useful totes, pouches and aprons for home and garden use. Shadow-Ink is a printing service specializing in templates or full page layout of Newsletters, Pamphlets, and Booklets. See below for the parameters of these publications used by Shadow-Ink.
Offered to libertarians, gulchers and self-reliant people everywhere, we prefer to deal with the individual and feel we can help publicize your thoughts or jump-start your cottage industry through our services. If there is news or information you wish to advertise or convey, we can help you disseminate it quickly and elegantly. You write, we design and print. We do some editing to ensure a professional-looking page, but if you need help developing your words into marketable material, Shadow-Ink can refer you to the proper resource.
Stapling is the binding of choice for all booklets. If your text is too large or wide-ranging in subject, or you prefer perfect-bound or spiral binding, a dedicated bookbinder can be found for your publication, or we can refer you to another printer.
Shadow-Ink utilizes a color laser jet printer, digital camera & photo printer along with quality page layout software. We will email the template to you for printing elsewhere if you prefer, or can print the full text and mail all copies to you for your own dissemination. We do not mail to your readership.
Quality output is built in at Shadow-Ink, but we do not compete with publishing houses for your manuscript. Our goal is geared to getting your word out in a timely fashion and, to that end, we are set up for quick printing of news and information.

NEWSLETTERS

A NEWSLETTER is composed of 1-4 loose pages designed to convey information directed toward a specific group of people with like interests. It can be varied in content to encompass several subjects, or concentrated on one subject such as gardening, animal care or a political party or viewpoint. A newsletter may add 1-2 pages, but rarely is it as large as 8 pages.
A newsletter can be sent to a large family around the country, an in-house business or a private organization needing constant updates on member activities. Published periodically, it serves as a mini-newspaper to keep any group in touch on a regular or irregular basis. Informal in style, a newsletter is an all-purpose publication and can be printed quickly once the template is set up. Newsletters are printed in B & W only.
PAMPHLETS
Sizes: 8.5 x 11, 11 x 17
(flat or folded)
A PAMPHLET consists of 4-16 loose pages of text, is directed toward a single subject or subjects of similar interest, and is written to sell something—whether product, service or ideology. Political lobbyists as well as companies large and small use pamphlets to market their wares.
A LEAFLET is a one-page pamphlet propagandizing (pro or con) a single idea or event. It is most useful for an essay or declaration, a marketing sheet, or a planned meeting. Unlike a flyer, leaflets may use both sides of the page. Pamphlets and leaflets may be printed in B & W or color.
BOOKLETS
Sizes: 6 x 9, 8.5 x 11
A BOOKLET is a bound text composed of 16-76 pages. They require a cover, and will be stapled unless an alternate binding by another source is preferred. Booklets may be substituted for small books or larger pamphlets, and can be used for poetry or gift books as well as for general information.

Published periodically, it serves as a mini-newspaper to keep any group in touch on a regular or irregular basis. MANUALS are booklets written to impart instruction, schematics, and other factual text designed to educate the reader on a specific subject. It may be used as a textbook or procedural guide.

Anything larger than 76 pages will be regarded as a book by Shadow-ink, and we automatically refer you to a publishing house or other printer if text exceeds that limit.

PRICES
Because our interest is in disseminating your news and ideas, our rates are kept low and we will attempt to meet any reasonable request, including barter, in exchange for your business. However Shadow Farm reserves the right to accept or reject any text or exchange offer for any reason.
Due to the size and more formal presentation needed for booklets and manuals, Shadow Farm must charge by the hour for layout of these publications in order to keep the costs down.

OUR PLEDGE
Templates for all publications are saved for the exclusive use of the original client. A copy of your template(s) can be sent to any recipient for any purpose you specify, but Shadow Farm reserves the right to confirm this transfer before sending the template.
Shadow Farm handles all submitted material as if copyrighted, whether copyrighted or not; how you handle it thereafter is your business.
Shadow Farm will not alter any work you submit except minor editing during original typesetting, and only with your knowledge.
CAVEAT
Shadow Farm believes in free speech and the right of our clients to write whatever they choose. We encourage honest dialogue among men and women, in speech and on paper.
However we ask that you do not submit any material that would compromise our business, and we will not typeset or print any material that encourages the initiation of force or destruction of private property.
